With over 300 trucks driving over two dozen cross drains to the Okeechobee County landfill daily, the FDOT needed a product capable of supporting both the live and impact loads of truck traffic. Hardie Pipe's unique material properties allow it to gain additional in-ground strength without any additional compaction during installation. Ultimately, that enables it to withstand loads of greater than 3 times that of steel reinforced concrete pipe. Since the average truck load of waste is 22 tons per truck, that's 6,000 to 7,000 tons of waste being driven over Hardie Pipe daily!
