 | The beauty of Florida's coastline can sometimes cause problems for coastal cities. In the City of North Miami Beach, local residents were faced with standing water up to 24-hours after a rain event. The City's engineers chose 12" Hardie Pipe to solve the problem. Hardie Pipe's unique concrete matrix gives it an outstanding advantage over traditional RCP, as there are no steel reinforcements that can corrode and cause premature pipeline failure. Hardie Pipe is tested using fully saturated pipe (as required by ASTM C1450), so the City of North Miami Beach can be certain that it installed pipe is ideal for this application.
"Low ground cover is why we used Hardie Pipe, as well as its corrosion resistance. Our metal pipe corrodes due to the water's salinity. It is easy to brick and mud into structures using this pipe." - Kenny Paoletti, Operator Foreman, City of North Miami Beach.
