Custom mitered end sections save time for R&E Contracting 'Hardie Pipe's pre-cut MES's made this project a breeze! I'm gald we used Hardie PIpe for this project. I can't wait to use it on our next job". Dennis Rogers, Pipe Foreman, R&E Contracting Inc. Project Name: State Road 16 Location: Bradford County, Florida Client: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) Civil Engineer: Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) General Contractor: APAC Southeast Inc Sub Contractor: R&E Contracting Inc Project Cost: $4.5 million Completion Date: Mid 2007 Hardie Pipe Used: 600ft of Class II & Class III standard Hardie™ Pipe, and 100 MES Hardie™ Pipe. Installing cross and side drains often means contractors spend a lot of time cutting and measuring pipes to fit standard mitered end sections (MES). But when Hardie Pipe supplied R&E Contracting with made-to-fit MES they installed over 100 stormwater drains and culverts in next to no time. Dennis Rogers, Pipe Foreman for R&E Contracting was impressed with Hardie Pipe’s MES. “The pre-cut MES’s made this project a breeze! The pre-cut MES’s really reduced our cutting time in the field, and even eliminated the debris on the site, which is typical when we have to cut the “old wire” RCP. I’m glad we used Hardie Pipe. I can’t wait to use it on our next job.” Hardie Pipe provided R&E Contracting with over 100 specific cut-to-length MES’s minimizing joint connections and improving project efficiencies. Typically a 32ft driveway culvert in SRCP consists of two 8ft MES’s and two 8ft pipes, but with Hardie Pipe, the same 32ft driveway culvert comprised of two 16ft MES and one simple joint. The State Road 16 FDOT resurfacing project covered over four miles from US 301 to Clay County Line in Bradford County. By selecting Hardie Pipe as their RCP, R&E Contracting simplified their transportation and handling processes. Hardie Pipe’s unique lightweight fiber cement characteristics and palletized bundling system allowed the MES pipes to be effectively relocated around the site, which provided additional savings for R&E Contracting. “The pipe was so easy to handle. We had no problems transporting the pipe from our storage yard to the install locations some several miles down the road.” Dennis Rogers further noted “Hardie Pipe was a great cost effective solution for us.” Hardie Pipe is approved and supported by the FDOT and meets their specifications. Hardie Pipe supplied 600ft of Class II & Class III standard Hardie Pipe, and 100 MES to the State Road 16 project. The $4.5 million resurfacing upgrade in Bradford County was completed in May 2007.
